Terms of Service

Welcome to DistroFront. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of DistroFront (the “Platform”), including uploading music, preparing metadata, building releases, submitting releases for distribution, processing payments, and any related services we provide. By using the Platform you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use DistroFront, or at least 13 with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. If you use the Platform on behalf of an artist, label, company, publisher, or other rights holder, you confirm that you are authorized to act for them and to bind them to these Terms.

2. Account Responsibilities

You agree to provide accurate information, keep your account details current, and protect your login credentials. You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account. We may use technical security monitoring to help prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, and rights violations.

3. Platform License

Subject to these Terms, DistroFront grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Platform to:

  • upload music, artwork, and metadata;
  • prepare releases;
  • submit releases for distribution;
  • check the status of your releases; and
  • manage your artist and release information.

4. User Content and Rights

“User Content” means any audio recordings, compositions, artwork, lyrics, metadata, images, text, artist names, and other materials you submit through the Platform. You represent and warrant that:

  • you own or control all rights to your User Content;
  • you hold all permissions, licenses, and clearances required to distribute it;
  • your User Content does not infringe any third-party rights;
  • you have all rights to any samples, covers, interpolations, beats, artwork, lyrics, names, likenesses, and AI-generated materials you submit; and
  • for any AI-generated music, you hold the commercial rights granted by the tool or platform that generated it.

5. License to Process and Distribute Content

You retain ownership of your recordings, compositions, artwork, and metadata. You grant DistroFront a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, reproduce, transmit, analyze, format, process, and deliver your User Content solely as needed to:

  • operate the Platform;
  • prepare and validate metadata;
  • submit releases on your behalf;
  • deliver music to digital service providers (DSPs), stores, and partners;
  • perform rights, safety, fraud, and compliance checks;
  • provide customer support; and
  • maintain technical and accounting records.

DistroFront does not become the owner of your music.

6. AI Music Disclosure

You must accurately disclose whether each song is AI-generated, AI-assisted, human-made, or uncertain. AI-generated or AI-assisted music may be subject to additional checks, disclosure requirements, partner rules, and the AI distribution price. If a track is classified or billed as AI, the AI price applies.

Human-made songs: $1 per song.
AI-generated or AI-assisted songs: $2 per song. The extra $1 for AI songs supports the Artist Compensation Fund.

7. Payments and Fees

  • Human-made songs cost $1 per song.
  • AI-generated or AI-assisted songs cost $2 per song.
  • Fees are shown to you before submission.
  • You must confirm the fee before paying or submitting.
  • Fees may be non-refundable once processing, distribution, or third-party delivery has begun.
  • Failure to pay may prevent submission or access to paid features.

8. Distribution Is Not Guaranteed

Submitting a release does not guarantee approval, delivery, availability, playlist placement, search ranking, royalties, revenue, or acceptance by any DSP, store, or partner. Stores and partners may reject, delay, remove, mute, modify, or restrict releases based on their own rules.

9. Unauthorized Content and Takedowns

We may reject, suspend, remove, or disable releases if we suspect infringement, fraud, unauthorized content, misleading metadata, rights disputes, illegal activity, DSP rejection, or violation of these Terms. You may lose access to releases, credits, payments, or your account if you submit unauthorized content.

10. Metadata Accuracy

You are responsible for the accuracy of titles, artist names, credits, labels, release dates, explicit flags, rights data, and AI disclosure. DistroFront is not responsible for issues caused by inaccurate or incomplete metadata you provide.

11. Royalties

DistroFront does not claim ownership of your music and does not guarantee any royalties or revenue. Publishing royalties, performance royalties, mechanical royalties, PRO/CMO collection, and publishing administration may be separate from distribution unless explicitly offered by the Platform.

12. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

  • upload content you do not own or control;
  • impersonate artists or rights holders;
  • use misleading artist names or metadata;
  • upload infringing samples, lyrics, artwork, beats, vocals, or likenesses;
  • evade AI disclosure requirements;
  • abuse, scrape, reverse-engineer, or attack the Platform; or
  • use the Platform for fraud, spam, illegal activity, or artificial streaming manipulation.

13. Service Availability and Beta Features

Some features of DistroFront may be beta, experimental, unavailable, delayed, or subject to errors. We may change, pause, or discontinue features at any time. Beta submission messaging shown inside the app applies as-is.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts or releases for:

  • violation of these Terms;
  • suspected fraud;
  • non-payment;
  • repeated infringement claims;
  • unauthorized content;
  • abuse of the service; or
  • legal or partner requirements.

15. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, DistroFront disclaims all warranties, including warranties of uninterrupted service, DSP acceptance, metadata accuracy, royalty accuracy, revenue, playlist placement, search ranking, and third-party platform behavior.

16. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, DistroFront will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or lost-profit damages arising from your use of the Platform.

17. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after an update means you accept the updated Terms.
